When I first arrived in Qatar as a domestic worker, I had one goal: to create a better future for myself and my family. It wasn’t easy. The work was hard, the hours were long, and I missed home every single day. But I kept my dream in sight—to one day build my own house, not just a small one, but a place I could proudly call my mansion.
I started by being extremely careful with my money. Every riyal counted. I avoided unnecessary spending and sent only a small portion home for urgent needs. I cooked my own food, avoided shopping for clothes unless absolutely necessary, and stayed focused on my goal.
Whenever I received my salary, I made sure to save at least 70% of it. I also joined a small savings group with other workers, where we supported each other in reaching our goals. Over the years, I educated myself about basic budgeting and how to safely send and save money back home.
After nearly 8 years of discipline and sacrifice, I had saved enough to buy land and start building. Brick by brick, with careful planning and smart choices, my dream came to life. Today, I stand proudly in front of the house I built—my mansion. It’s more than a building; it’s proof that no matter where you start, with hard work and faith, you can achieve your dreams.
To anyone out there working hard far from home: never give up. Your dream is valid, and it is possible.
