Kenya streets have become stages for endless protests-_from the cost of living to rigged elections and runaway corruption.Teargas, angry chants, burnt tires_we see it every election cycle, every tax hike, every betrayal. But beneath this fury lies an uncomfortable truth. We maybe raising a generation that fears responsibility.
Look around our youth make more than 75% of population _an energy force that should drive bold reforms, build new industries and hold leaders accountable.Instead, too many young Kenyans have been trapped in a cycle of waiting and complaining
Meanwhile many young Kenyans shy away from tougher choices, starting cooperatives, contesting local seats, organising beyond hashtags _these take sacrifice, strategy and thick skin. But we would rather throw stones for someone else than knock on doors for signatures and register our own parties.
We would rather share viral memes than sit through hours of policy planning meetings. We want quick change but someone else must do the heavy lifting.
Thousands of young riders earn their bread daily yet how many come together to form strong associations to lobby for better policies, credit access,or training?most would rather Dodge bribes and daily harassment alone, hoping the government wake up one day to fix things.
This is not the say the youth are to blame for the mess they inherited. The system is rigged, opportunities are scarce, corruption is deep. But shouting at the gates will not break them down.Responsibility means staying after the protest to build something new_something you own.
We must reject the calture of waiting for saviors,we must reject handouts that buy silence. Our votes are not for sale. Our voices must not stop at the streets. If we want a fair Kenya,we must organise, contest, vote, run businesses honestly, refuse shortcuts, and hold each other to account too.
A generation that fears responsibility will remain a tool in hands of failed leaders.A generation that embraces it will break this toxic cycle for good.Kenya future is not waiting for us,it is demanding us to lead_not tomorrow but today.
