Unemployment is Fueling Crime in Nairobi

Each year the higher education learning institutions releases thousands of Phd, Degree, Diploma and certificate graduates adding to the already millions of unemployed youths in the job market. The world is moving in an economic model which is more based on skills eg Digital skills to integrate AI into our day to day activities to enhance efficiency yet the Kenyan Education system doesn’t offer carriculum based system which would have equipped the youths with necessary skills to survive in this rapidly evolving world where Tech is the order of the day leaving them out of jobs which can change our lives.

Life in Nairobi is harsh for the jobless with many restorting to hand to mouth economy with jobs paying less than 2$ which is insufficient to pay bills. As a result many of the youths who miss the hand to mouth jobs engage in crime  to survive in this harsh economic conditions that knows no boundary.Cybercrime, mugging, Robbery, Obtaining and Even pickpocketing or Snatching phones which they resell at a throwaway price to meet their ends meet.

As a result many unemployed graduates engage in crime activities. Unemployment is taking a toll on youths in Nairobi  imagine a university graduate selling his organs in the black market for peanuts just to get food to eat.

With no favourable policies by the government to Attract investment to create jobs and Offer skilled based training programmes to empower the youths many youths are dying, rotting in jail or are in a mental hospital. Brain drain is the new epidemic in Nairobi.
